$5 Fine for whining

So said the hilarious sign above the bar we went to after the show in Northampton last night, suffice to say that not one single moan escaped our lips as we lapped up some tasty Guiness after playing to another fine crowd. A few of us had some drinks with those fine Essex Green lads. It was so cold there last night, I applaud everyone who made it out there or any of the other nights we've played recently. Everyone assumes that Scotland is cold but this is something else, we have the Gulf Stream, mild winters these days, crappy summers too. Sounds lovely, huh?
At the moment we are in Boston and play the Paradise club tonight. I share a room with Francois and he's currently overdubbing some trumpet part on his tiny 4 track recorder. He never stops! I on the other hand will probably switch on the Chuck Norris channel on TV when i've finished this.
We watched The Departed on the plane on the way over so are all a bit weary of Boston's seedy underbelly, better watch it tonight! Only kidding, i'm excited because I have friends here and i'm sure they'll buy me dinner, talking of which, the competition to find the most generous audience is still on. Mine's a Whiskey with ice.

A question of tipples

Did you know that the Bombay Sapphire Gin factory burned down last year? Gavin just told me that back stage at The Earl in Atlanta, Georgia, preparing to kick off our tour of the States. He's full of interesting facts like that. I'm on a bit of a downer so was thinking about having a drink and someone suggested Gin. My god I think not. You know what they say about that particular tipple, I'll be crying by the 2nd tune. Instead I'm going for Campari and orange juice. Smiles all the way.

And now I know what security means to me

So here we are in that little america world. We sort of forgot how long the flight takes. And we didn't count on it taking two hours from getting off the plane to finally getting out of the airport. Flipping heck. They make you collect your luggage and then hand it in and take a train and pick it up again. The immigration guy was quite friendly for once though.

A journalist recently asked me whether we spiced up tales in our blogs. Cheeky bastard.

Ok here's one for you. Last night I dreamt I saw some badgers and told Bill Oddie about them.

take care and see some of you at the shows

9.50am and Shooter's on.

I have awoken in Atlanta, GA. It is 10 minutes to 10 in the morning and Basic Instinct is on the TV, that amazing bit where Mike Douglas turns up at that club wearing a jumper has just been on, brilliant! Genius! I'm not a big "so bad it's good" guy, although this and 'Roadhouse' with Patrick Swayze are amazingly entertaining pieces of crap. Especially the latter, Swayze as a Zen buddhist bouncer working rough Southern bars is particularly hilarious, Ben Gazarra is in it too. What more could you possibly want in a film?
After 10 hours on planes we arrived in Atlanta at 6pm'ish last night, it's cold here. We ate at a particularly classy joint called Ruby Tuesdays and drank some beer called Blue Moon. Anyway, some of the guys are watching 'Rocky Bilbaoa' and some are eating breakfast and I have to shower but only after i've seen Mick Douglas nearly being ice-picked to death, sexy death!
We play at the Earl tonight, more later.
